On October 27th, 2021, BalletCNJ received the announcement that their student Micah Levine has been one of 81 selected candidates to partake in The Prix de Lausanne 2022. Since being founded in 1973, Prix de Lausanne has become the most prestigious international competition for young dancers training in classical ballet. Out of 376 applicants from 39 different countries around the world, we are so grateful that Micah was among one of the 81 candidates to be selected. Out of those accepted into the competition, he is only one of 6 boys from the United States. There has also never been a candidate to be selected from New Jersey at least in the past ten years. This is such an amazing accomplishment for our student, the studio, and a wonderful representation for New Jersey. One of BalletCNJ’s main goals is to showcase New Jersey’s talent on a worldwide map, and this is just the first accomplishment in doing so.
The goal of The Prix de Lausanne is to discover exceptionally talented young dancers from around the globe. During the competition, dancers will perform before a jury to embark upon a professional career with the access to several opportunities, such as training with prestigious, world-renowned schools or working for professional dance companies. Additionally, the competition offers several scholarships to help the finalists continue their training.
Even throughout the hardships of COVID-19, BalletCNJ and Micah continued to work eagerly and this hard work, along with the devoted faculty, has paid off. Being accepted into Prix de Lausanne is just one stepping stone along Micah’s future and a true testament of the caliber of dancers BalletCNJ is creating.
Join us in congratulating Micah and
wishing him good luck as we
celebrate such amazing accomplishments. We are very excited that Micah will be representing the USA, New Jersey, and his BalletCNJ Family in Lausanne, Switzerland, come January 31st, 2022!
