Meet some of the cast of BalletCNJ's Winter Performance 2019! (Part I)

Our students are hard at work preparing for BalletCNJ 's Annual Winter Performance!

Dancers ranging from Young Dancer Division to Daytime Professional Training Program will be showcased in two performances on Saturday, December 7th, 2019 at Villa Victoria Academy Theater in Ewing, NJ. They will be performing in two festive works: Ashton's "Les Patineurs" (The Skaters) and "The Nutcracker".

"Going onstage"

"I say something positive!"


Any words of advice for other young aspiring dancers?

"You need to practice a lot!"




Alexandria Jones (Age 8)

What excites you most about performing?

"I get to dance in front of people and it gives me a good feeling!"

"I like to ride my bike!"

"I will be representing USA and BalletCNJ in the Miami International Ballet Competition and Youth America Grand Prix!"

"Showing all of my hard work"

"I make the sign of the cross and pray that I will do well"

What excites you most about performing?

"Making people happy!"

"Spending time with my family"

"Yes, but I also get excited"

"This is my 3rd Winter Performance Season at BalletCNJ"

"A Young Skater in Les Patineurs and Mother Ginger and Spanish Side in the The Nutcracker"


What excites you most about performing?

"Being able to have fun and put on a great performance!"

"My family and I like watching Hallmark movies and being together"

" Karate, Band, Choir, Math Club, and Student Council"

"I've danced on and off, but about 7 years"

"Young Skater in Les Patineurs and Pink Flower and Chinese Tea Lead in The Nutcracker"


What excites you most about performing?

"Getting to express yourself"

"Giving presents/making and getting money from Chinese New Year!"


What do you want to be when you grow up?

"An artist, dancer, or teacher"


Any pre-performance superstition/rituals?

"The thing where you shake your arms and legs 4 times...then 3 times, etc.."


What is your favorite ballet?

"The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, or Swan Lake"


Any words of advice for other aspiring young dancers?

"Don't be afraid to mess up or fall!"

"The costumes and just the excitement of being onstage!"

"Getting gifts on Christmas, getting money on Chinese and Japanese New Year!"

"Sometimes I get nervous!"

"Wearing pineapples and saying Good Luck!"


Any words of advice for other aspiring young dancers?

"Never give up, pay attention, and don't sit or lean on anything in class!"
